Maruti Suzuki has yet to launch its first electric car, but it has begun installing charging stations at Nexa dealerships. According to a report by The Economic Times, it is planning to install around 25,000 EV charging stations before the launch of its first electric vehicle concept, the eVX midsize SUV. The company aims to set up strong charging infrastructure at more than 5,100 service centers in 2,300 cities.

This charging infrastructure development demonstrates the company’s desire to strengthen its charging infrastructure prior to the launch of the eVX. The company also confirmed that Nexa dealerships will sell this car. At the India Mobility Global Expo 2025, which will take place in New Delhi from January 17 to 22, the company will unveil the production specs of the eVX SUV.

The Maruti Suzuki eVX’s design, features, and specifications

The design of the Suzuki eVX will differ significantly from the concept model. It will have horizontal LED light bars that cover the entire width at the rear. It gets a high-mounted stop lamp, a shark fin antenna, and a sloped terrace. When it comes to its exterior, it has a raked front windshield, square-off wheels, and muscular side cladding hidden inside the warp. It will get 17-inch alloy wheels.

Suzuki eVX will be available with both single and dual-electric motor setups. International markets such as Europe and Japan can reserve it. A 60 kWh Li-ion battery pack can equip the eVX, providing a driving range of approximately 500 km. Photos spotted during testing also show a two-spoke steering wheel and dual-screen layout.

The Maruti Suzuki eVX can be around 4,300 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,600 mm in height. In India, it will compete with other electric models like the upcoming Mahindra XUV700-based electric SUV, Hyundai Creta-based EV, Tata Curve EV, Honda Elevate EV, and Kia Seltos EV. We plan to launch the zero-emission vehicle in 2025 and 2026. Toyota’s 40PL will serve as the foundation for its 27L architecture.
